Ministries
Ephesians 4 speaks of the diversities of gifts that the Lord has given to all of His children "for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ" (v.12). For this reason we seek to provide opportunities for all of our local church body to participate in the Lord's work. We are grateful for what the Lord has accomplished through each of these individual ministries, as well as the faithful servants that keep them all running.
Ministry Opportunities at VBC
- Winsor House
3rd Sunday of each month
Orchard Acute Care is a Vacaville convalescent home located near the church. Each month a group visits the residents and holds a Sunday afternoon worship service, including music, testimonies, and the preaching of the Word.
- Union Gospel Mission
2nd Tuesday evening of each month
Union Gospel Mission is a ministry to homeless men in Sacramento. One evening a month we have the opportunity of providing special music and preaching the Gospel to the men who come to the Mission for food and shelter. For more information about the mission, you can visit their website: www.ugmsac.com
- Missions
The Lord has given us the opportunity to partner with missionaries both in the U.S. and abroad. Ministering to these servants goes far beyond sending financial support; it also includes the regular writing of letters and e-mails and weekly prayer meetings to uphold their needs before the Lord. Learn more about our missionaries here.
Each fall we hold an annual missions conference where several missionaries come and give field reports as well as challenge us in our own roles as missionaries at home. Summer also brings special opportunities for many church members to travel on short-term trips. For instance, in the summer of 2007 members of VBC traveled to Alaska, Arizona, Canada, Suriname, and China.
- Choir
Rehearsals each Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
Each Sunday morning the choir has the opportunity to lead the congregation in worship by the presenting of a choral arrangement. Their time and effort is greatly used to prepare the hearts of the audience to receive the Word of God as it is preached. Two special highlights each year are the annual Christmas and Easter Sunday cantatas, complete with music, drama, and Scripture reading.
- Ladies' Meetings
Every other Tuesday morning at 11:30 a.m.
During the school year, the ladies enjoy bi-weekly times of fellowship and Bible Study together. Each year a different theme is chosen, led by Mrs. Linda Blanton & Mrs. June Christie. The Bible study is a special time for all the ladies to encourage one another and be refreshed in the Word of God.
- Young Adult Bible Study
Each Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
The Young Adult Bible Study is a special time our young people have to meet together each week to learn and discuss various series and topics, followed by a time of fellowship.
- Faith Academy
-Purpose Statement
Faith Academy was established as an integral part of Vacaville Bible Church in the fall of 1979. The goal from the beginning has been to assist families in fulfilling their Biblical mandate to train their children up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. This training does not occur only on Sunday, but every day of the week.We desire to be used of God to influence and train young people to pursue excellence in their academics as well as their relationship with God, family, their church family, and all others.
Our goal is not solely to train good sons and daughters or academically accomplished students, but rather to train Godly young people prepared to serve in the place of God's calling.
-Educational Philosophy
1. We believe that the Bible Clearly instructs parents, not the church or state, to "bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." Therefore, we seek to teach and discipline in a manner consistent with the Bible and a godly
home environment.
2. God wants us to love Him with our mind as well as with our heart, soul, and strength (Matt. 22:37). Therefore, we seek to individually challenge children at all levels and teach them how to learn, versus teaching them to learn by unthinking repetition.
3. We want to help parents teach their children that all they do should be done "heartily, as unto the Lord." Therefore, we seek to encourage quality academic work and maintain high standards of conduct. This includes Biblical discipline principles.
4. We have a full K-12 program because we believe that as long as a child is under the parents' authority and under-going formal education, he should be trained biblically (Deut. 6:6,7; Prov. 22:6).
- B.A.S.I.C.S.
Each Tuesday morning during the school year
B.A.S.I.C.S. (Brothers and Sisters in Christian Service) is a special ministry for all 7th - 12th graders designed to disciple and encourage them in their walk with the Lord. Included in the B.A.S.I.C.S. program are Bible studies focused on preparing the young people for practical ministry opportunities.
- Bay Area Bible Study
Each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
The Lord has led families to VBC from a number of communities, some from as far away as the Bay Area. In order to better serve these families, the Lord led Pastor Blanton to hold a Bible study in Lafayette once a week. For more information, contact the church office.
- Vacation Bible School
Monday through Friday morning, one week each summer
Vacation Bible School is an energetic week of games, refreshments and teaching from the Bible. Preparations begin by much prayer and canvassing the neighborhood, inviting children from kindergarten to 6th grade to join us for this fun time. If you live in the area and have children who are interested in coming, we'd love to have them join us!
For more information on these or any other ministries, call the church office at (707) 446-8684 or send e-mail to office@vacavillebiblechurch.com.
